Haskell out to show value of French lesson

12 December 2012

England flanker James Haskell will use his knowledge of French rugby to help London Wasps win their Amlin Challenge Cup clash against Bayonne tomorrow night at Adams Park.

Haskell played for Stade Francais for two years before returning to Wasps via short stints in Japan and New Zealand.

Last weekend, Wasps and Bayonne drew 13-13 and Haskell is demanding an improvement.

“They’re a side with a lot of rugby rock stars and they can turn it on and cause you a lot of problems on their day, so we’ve got to play pretty well to win,” he said.

“We want to progress in this competition, and we’ve put ourselves in a decent position and need to just back it up.

“I was lucky enough to be involved in a side who got to a European Challenge Cup Final with Stade and I know that progressing in a Cup competition can give you a lot of confidence.”
