Kelly Brown’s nervy clash

2 November 2012

Saracens will have Kelly Brown, the new Scotland captain, and Schalk Brits in their side for Sunday’s match against London Wasps.

It will be a nervous 80minutes for Brown, who seriously injured his knee in a game last January, ending his chances of leading the Scots in the Six Nations.

Brits has been recalled to the South Africa squad for the first time in four years but will not link up with the Springboks until Sunday evening.

With Owen Farrell on England duty, Charlie Hodgson reclaims the Sarries No10 jersey and this match will test the strength in depth of the Premiership leaders. They have six players away with England while Wales prop Rhys Gill is injured.

Wasps have fitness concerns over No8 Billy Vunipola, brother of Sarries prop Mako, who will make his England debut against Fiji a week tomorrow. Andrea Masi only returned from Italy yesterday and may start on the bench for Wasps.

Meanwhile, wing Bryan Habana has been named the South African rugby player of the year for the third time.
