Billy Vunipola is out of Saracens’ clash against Gloucester on Sunday, stalling his comeback after just 93 minutes of Premiership rugby this season.

Saracens say it is only a minor problem and he is unavailable “due to a pre-arranged medical procedure carried out this week”.

Vunipola was named in Eddie Jones’s latest England training squad yesterday, but the latest setback is another blow for the No8 who has endured a broken arm (twice), knee damage and shoulder trouble in the last couple of years.

The 25-year-old came off the bench in the match against Bristol and started against Northampton last week before being replaced in the 68th minute.

Richard Wigglesworth will break the all-time Premiership appearance record when he runs out for the 266th time in the league.
