Saracens land Damian Willemse on loan after losing Alex Goode and Max Malins to injury

Saracens have announced the loan signing of Springbok starlet Damian Willemse as injury cover for backs Alex Goode and Max Malins.

Willemse, 21, failed to make South Africa’s World Cup squad having suffered from a knee injury, but will head to Sarries from Western Province instead. The fly-half or full-back made five Test appearances for the Boks last year.

The club have not out a timeframe on the return of Goode, who picked up a foot injury at the end of last season, in which they won the Heineken Champions Cup and the Gallagher Premiership.

Goode’s understudy Malins also has a foot injury, with a fracture set to keep him out for three months following successful surgery.

"We’re grateful to Western Province for allowing Damian to play his rugby at Saracens for the next three months," Director of Rugby Mark McCall said.

"He is a young talent and we’re looking forward to welcoming him to the club."
