Six Nations: England centre Henry Slade will travel to Dublin as he looks to prove fitness for Ireland clash

Henry Slade will travel with England to Dublin as he bids to prove his fitness ahead of Saturday’s Six Nations clash with Ireland.

Slade has started every match of this year’s tournament so far, but picked up a calf injury during training on Monday.

The Exeter Chiefs centre has since been doing rehabilitation work to get fit and England hope he can play at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

Harlequins centre Joe Marchant has been drafted in as cover and he will also travel with the squad to Ireland as they prepare for the final game of their Six Nations campaign.

“Henry is doing rehab. He is doing really, really well,” said England forwards coach Matt Proudfoot on Wednesday.

“He will be travelling with us [to Ireland] and we will give him all opportunity to be ready.

“Joe Marchant is in the group and will travel with us to Ireland. So if he (Slade) keeps on progressing, it is going to look good for him.”
