Yachvili can punish Wasps, says Betsen

Former France flanker Serge Betsen today warned London Wasps to pay special attention to Dimitri Yachvili in Saturday’s Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-final against Biarritz.

Betsen played for Biarritz for 17 years before spending three seasons with Wasps after joining them in 2008.

Both clubs have struggled in their domestic leagues this season but Betsen is convinced they will use the Adams Park clash as a chance to show their real worth and scrum-half Yachvilli is vital to the Biarritz cause.

The Basque club beat high-flying Clermont 15-14 on Saturday — a fourth win in a row — and their key man was Yachvili, who kicked all of his team’s points.

“He is so important to Biarritz,” said Betsen.

“He brings the spirit and passion of the club to his game, everyone follows his step. He’s also a great kicker.

“Wasps will have to look out for him. If they make mistakes he can punish them.”
