Sale flying high after Bristol shock

Sale coach Jim Mallinder was pleased with a solid all-round performance by his team following their shock 35-25 victory over Bristol.

Steve Hanley?s injury-time try gave Sale a bonus point and took them top of the Premiership after its opening weekend.

Sale outscored their hosts 4-1 on tries, but poor discipline allowed Bristol fly half Shane Drahm 11 penalty attempts which threatened to prove their undoing.

But Drahm missed five and Sale went on to win, despite their Lions star Jason Robinson hardly receiving a pass all afternoon.

Mallinder said: ?I thought that if we managed to win enough ball, then we would be capable of scoring tries. Our defence was good and I thought that we could have scored another two or three.?
