Sanchez-Vicario wins sixth Spanish Open

Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario earned her second title of the season after beating compatriot Angeles Montolio in two sets to take the Spanish Open.  

The number two seed, who has won the Spanish Open now six times, defeated Montolio 7-5 6-0 at the Club de Campo clay court outside Madrid.

In sweltering heat, Montolio, who won this year in Estoril and Bol, put up a determined fight in the first set stretching Sanchez-Vicario for more than an hour.

But Sanchez-Vicario dominated with ease in the second set which she won in 20 minutes.
