Scotland locks Jim Hamilton and Nathan Hines have both passed a ferocious fitness test to prove they are ready to tackle unbeaten Ireland at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Hamilton (shoulder) has been restored to the starting XV, while Hines (knee) is on the bench.

Their rehabilitation programme included a session at Murrayfield during which the duo ran into each other at full speed.

Hamilton (above) said: "We were pelting each other out there. He was running as hard as he could and I was running as hard as I could at him."

Meanwhile, Warren Fury, the London Irish reserve scrum-half, has been backed to make a significant impact when he takes part in Wales' Six Nations clash against Italy in Rome on Saturday.

With Dwayne Peel ruled out by a hamstring injury, Fury finds himself understudy to Mike Phillips and is certain to get a run-out in Rome.

Shaun Edwards, the Wales defence coach, is confident Fury will impress and said: "He's a tough kid, very tough. He's a competitor and no respecter of reputations. He'll put his head where it hurts."
