Seaman backs Capello's goalkeeping selections
Former England number one David Seaman believes Fabio Capello has selected the right combination of goalkeepers for next month's World Cup.
The Italian has picked Portsmouth's David James, West Ham's Robert Green and Manchester City's Joe Hart, who spent this season on loan at Birmingham, in his 30-man provisional squad.
"For me Capello has got the goalkeepers right," said Seaman. "There is a good contrast with David James, who has a huge amount of experience, Robert Green, who is pushing David and Joe Hart, who has had a superb season at Birmingham."
Barring injury that trio will go to South Africa, despite Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce claiming Capello had made a mistake in not taking Paul Robinson.
Seaman added: "I know Green has played the last few games but for me David James is first choice.
"Sam Allardyce has a great case for saying Paul Robinson should have been selected but by bringing Joe Hart in he can gain valuable experience.
"When I was in the squad (but not first choice) I still felt I was involved and it is a great experience.
"I know Hart is not going to get a game but if, God forbid, you had two goalkeeping injuries I wouldn't have any worries about Joe because of the season he has had at Birmingham. He is in form."
