Security fears over Millwall cup tie
Millwall were today drawn against Cardiff in a potentially explosive Worthington Cup first-round clash at The Den.
Games between the two clubs have a history of crowd violence and a massive police operation will be in place for the fixture, which will be staged in the week of 20 August.
When they last met in London two seasons ago, Millwall spent £100,000 on security and managed to keep trouble to a minimum at the ground. But a group of Cardiff fans were arrested after they were found carrying knives, CS gas canisters and drugs in central London.
Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis said today: "Last time there was tight security around the game and it went ahead without too many problems.
"We will put similar measures in place again and hope that it will be a great game with no trouble."
Other ties - all of which are one-off knockout matches - include Leyton Orient at home to Crystal Palace, QPR at Northampton, Brentford at home to Norwich, Watford playing host to Plymouth and Wimbledon at Brighton.
