Senderos faces another six weeks on the sidelines

Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos, who has been out since July and has not made his competitive Arsenal debut yet, is still suffering from a back injury and may be out for another six weeks.

The 18-year-old Swiss defender, signed from Servette for £500,000 in the summer, was injured in a pre-season friendly and manager Arsene Wenger said: "Philippe Senderos has a back inflammation and it will take four to six weeks for it to settle down."

Sol Campbell is available for tomorrow's home game with Portsmouth after serving a one-match ban against Manchester City for his red card on the opening day of the season.

Campbell may partner Kolo Toure while Edu is favourite to come in for Gilberto Silva.

Arsenal had a cluster of players on international duty but used director Danny Fiszman's private jet to bring Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, Sylvain Wiltord and Robert Pires back from France's game in Slovenia.

Wenger said: "We have no injuries and all the teams won which helps the mood of the players when they come back. There is so much pressure on them when they play for the national teams and that can have an affect. But I have to say they are feeling tired."

That could mean a first start of the season for Dennis Bergkamp, who would play up front with Henry at the expense of Wiltord. Wenger may also decide to play Ray Parlour instead of Freddie Ljungberg.

Meanwhile, Luton manager Mike Newell will demand big money for goalkeeper Robert Beck if Arsenal swoop for the teenager.

Newell said: "If a club come in with a good offer you listen. But it would be expensive. Nobody is getting Luton players on the cheap."
