Senegal decide on a TV break

13 April 2012

Senegal cancelled today's training session so they could watch the second-round game between Japan and Turkey that will determine their quarter-final opponents.

The Senegalese, seeking to become the first African team to reach the semi-finals, arrived in Osaka, their quarter-final site, early today.

Instead of a light training session, team officials and players opted to relax at their hotel.

"The players will rest and watch the game on television," said team spokesman Cherkl Fall.

Senegal expect to be at full-strength for the quarter final.

Captain Aliou Cisse, nursing a strained calf, is recovering well and midfielder Salif Diao and winger Khalilou Fadiga will be available after suspension.
