Sidwell happy at Brentford

13 April 2012

Steven Sidwell says scoring his first League goal for Brentford makes up for the fact that he could have been playing against Manchester United in the Worthington Cup tonight.

Arsenal youth team midfielder Sidwell, on loan at Griffin Park, scored with a 20-yard volley to help the Brentford stay top of the Second Division with a 2-0 home victory over Blackpool.

He said: "I've never played a first team game for Arsenal but if I was still there I'm pretty sure I would have been playing against United. This loan deal was originally only for a month but I'd love to stay all season because it's fantastic here."
