Sir Michael Stoute confident Zacinto can eclipse rivals

Zacinto can account for five rivals in tomorrow's Coral-Eclipse and give trainer Sir Michael Stoute a remarkable sixth victory in the Group 1 feature at Sandown (3.10pm).

Having been out injured for the first half of last season, Zacinto won the Celebration Mile at Goodwood and chased home Rip Van Winkle in the QEII Stakes at Ascot last September.

But he has taken his time to regain that form after pulling up lame in the Breeders' Cup Mile at Santa Anita, California, in November.

He flopped on his seasonal reappearance in Newbury's Lockinge Stakes but his solid fourth in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot has connections believing the four-year-old is peaking at the right time.

The 7-2 shot tackles a mile and a quarter for the first time in the £500,000 feature, and Stoute said: "We were thinking of moving him up to 10 furlongs for the Champion Stakes but he ran so well in the QEII we decided to keep him to a mile and go for the huge prize money in America. He's not enjoyed the best of luck so far but I still have plenty of faith in him."
