Sirakov takes over for Chelsea clash

13 April 2012

Former Bulgaria striker Nasko Sirakov will take charge of Levski Sofia for their first-round UEFA Cup game at Chelsea on Thursday.

Sirakov, who is also an executive director at Levski, has been put in temporary control of the team after coach Ljubo Petrovic resigned over the weekend because of "health and family problems".

A spokesman for the Sofia club said today: "Petrovic's resignation was accepted by the directors and his contract was terminated by mutual consent."

Under Petrovic, who signed a three-year contract last October, Levski reached the third qualifying round of the Champions League before being beaten by Galatasaray.
