Snodgrass joy at Scotland call

12 April 2012

Robert Snodgrass expressed his delight after being handed his maiden call up to the Scotland squad.

Snodgrass, 22, has been rewarded for the form that has helped propel Leeds to the top of Coca-Cola League One.

"I'm really pleased. You want to play for your country and it would be a great honour and a proud moment for me" said Snodgrass, who earned two under-21 caps last year.

"I'm grateful that Scotland have been keeping tabs on me, and it's a nice to reward to get called up.

"It will be a great experience being around the senior squad, and it's another opportunity for me to learn from some good players."

Snodgrass was substituted late on during Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Carlisle, but insists he is fit for Saturday's top-of-the-table clash with Charlton.

He told his club's official website, www.leedsunited.com: "I came off as a precaution on Tuesday, and I'm now looking forward to the Charlton game."
