Sophie Kamlish qualified quickest in the T44 100m - and won Britain's 11th gold of the World Para Athletics Championships on Monday night.

Kamlish, a single-leg amputee, clocked a world record in her heat of 12.90.

She was 0.02secs outside that mark in taking gold ahead of Holland's Marlou van Rhijn, a double amputee.

Van Rhijn finished in 13.20 and Trinidad and Tobago's Nyoshia Cain finished third in 13.25. Briton Laura Sugar was fifth in 13.49.

Early in the evening, double amputee sprinter Richard Whitehead was unable to break his duck in the T42 100m, despite qualifying quickest.

The four-time 200m champion, 41 on Wednesday, had to settle for bronze as Australia's Scott Reardon won gold in 12.21secs.

Daniel Wagner of Denmark took silver in 12.30 and Whitehead was third in 12.39.

Whitehead, who has suggested he is considering whether to retire following these championships, has never won a world title over the shorter sprint distance.
