Spiralling costs could push Toyota out of F1

13 April 2012

Toyota have admitted they could quit Formula One because of the huge costs involved.

Although the team have signed up for next season they are concerned at the expense, having spent around £180million last year.

"We need to turn F1 into something where you don't need so much money," said Toyota team head Tadashi Yamashina.

"We'll have to consider various issues while bearing in mind our ties with our parent company."

Toyota have yet to win a race since their debut in 2002.
