5 April 2012

Boris Johnson today joined the search for 8,000 Olympic Ambassadors to welcome visitors to the capital during the Games.

About 16,000 applicants are attending 10 volunteer centres around London to try to secure a place on the Olympic team.

The successful recruits will assist an estimated five million visitors with directions to the Olympic venues and other landmarks.

The Mayor today visited the Ealing volunteer centre, where more than 600 applicants have been interviewed. He said: "The enthusiasm shown by our recruits and the staff at the centres has been truly tremendous."
