Crystal Palace times and the names to look out for . . .

13 July 2012

Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell has withdrawn from tonight’s meeting to rest a groin injury.

The former world record holder was scheduled to race in the 100m. Powell said: “I need to ensure that I’m ready for the Games and cannot take any risks.”

Dai Greene is one of the big names on show tonight and the 400m hurdle world champion says the meet will play an important role in his preparations for the Olympics.

“I seem to be coming into form at the right time,” he said. “I know I’m in pretty good shape. I’d like to think that with a few more weeks’ training I should be a bit faster and smoother.”
