Phillips Idowu today dismissed rumours that he is injured and said he has no worries for the Olympics.

The 2009 world triple jump champion sparked speculation after pulling out of the Diamond League meeting in Oregon in May, midway through the competition.

However, the 33-year-old Briton said his decision was a precaution due to the wet track and he has since kept a low profile so he can focus on his training for the Olympics.

“I’m in very good shape,” he said. “I’m doing everything I need to make sure I am prepared for these Games when they come around and I feel like my plan is working perfectly.

“This is a year when I am not going to take any risks, so it was a wise decision on my part. Any talk of injury was due to the written press writing stories. I’ve kind of just kept my head down.”

Idowu, a silver medallist in Beijing four years ago, will compete in the Diamond League meeting at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
