Emily Diamond, 21

Born Bristol, lives Loughborough

Athletics, 4x400m (squad)

Breakfast: I eat more than just the bowl of cereal I would have on a normal day — two or three Weetabix, a banana, yoghurt, toast. Nothing too massive.

Tracks: On the bus to the stadium I have slower songs to get myself relaxed and in the zone — in China last year it was Christina Perri’s Jar of Hearts — and when I’m warming up it’s more upbeat, from Take That to R’n’B .”

Routine: “I’ve got my warm-up that I do the same each time, I’ve got a little routine but I’m not really superstitious like that.”

Hero: “Mark Spitz in the swimming, the fact he entered seven events, won all seven and got world records in all seven is amazing.”

Tickets: “My family have got tickets for the 4x400m heats so that will be good if I can get a runaround in that.”

The squad event is at 7.10pm today.
