Spurs wait on injuries

14 April 2012

Tottenham's leading goalscorer Jermain Defoe and centre-back Anthony Gardner both remain doubtful for tomorrow's Barclays Premiership clash with Liverpool.

Defoe did not train yesterday after being struck down by illness and a sore throat while Gardner has hardly trained for a fortnight as he continues to be troubled by a foot injury.

Tottenham head coach Martin Jol was waiting to assess them both in training today before making a decision on whether to include them in the squad.

With Defoe doubtful and Mido out for two weeks with a stomach strain, Robbie Keane seems set to start up front alongside Fredi Kanoute.

Michael Brown is out for a fortnight after suffering a small fracture to the top of his foot in last week's win over Newcastle while Thimothee Atouba is suspended.

Noe Pamarot (knee), Pedro Mendes (toe) and Noureddine Naybet (hamstring) are all long-term casualties and will not travel, but Goran Bunjevcevic and Michael Dawson are both in line for a call.

Provisional squad: Robinson, Cerny, Kelly, Gardner, King, Bunjevcevic, Dawson, Edman, Davies, Davis, Ziegler, Brown, Carrick, Defoe, Keane, Kanoute.
