World wrestling champion Saguid Murtazaliev shot his attackers after being stabbed in Moscow today.

The 27-year-old Russian, who won the 97kg title in the 1999 World Freestyle Championships, was stabbed in the stomach as he came out of a Moscow hotel.

It is not clear whether he was attacked in a contract-hit or whether a fight had broken out.

The man who stabbed him died in hospital, while another attacker was hospitalised with gunshot wounds in the stomach and shoulder.
