Storm reigns over London

Paul Fielder13 April 2012

London Knights slumped to a 3-1 defeat to Manchester Storm at the London Arena despite having nine more shots on goal than their opponents.

And London defenceman Rob Donovan will face disciplinary action after being ejected from the game for headbutting just four minutes after the face-off.

Knights, who have now lost four of their last five home games, could not get past Mike Torchia in the Manchester net until a Kim Ahlroos goal 13 minutes from the end.

Ahlroos's strike made the score 2-1 but hopes of a comeback didn't last long as within a minute Paul Rushforth picked up a high sticking penalty and Russ Romaniuk, with his second goal of the night, put Storm 3-1 ahead on the resulting powerplay.

Knights play Sheffield Steelers in Docklands on Sunday and head coach Bob Leslie must find a solution to his team's lack of scoring power.

"We're getting the shots, we just need to know why they're not going in. Maybe we need to create more screens and get more rebounds," he said.
