Sven's set to copy Hiddink job-share role

Under pressure: Sven-Goran Eriksson's Mexico side recently lost 2-0 to the USA

Sven-Goran Eriksson is poised to emulate Guus Hiddink by combining his role as Mexico coach with the manager's job at Portsmouth.

Pompey are ready to copy the terms of Russia boss Hiddink's appointment at Chelsea by allowing Eriksson to take over while keeping his other job. Mexico have two more World Cup qualifiers - against Costa Rica and Honduras - this season, meaning a job-share is possible. But the Swede is certain to be axed if Mexico fail to claim maximum points.

Owner Alexandre Gaydamak wants to sell the club, who are £32m in debt, but relegation would ruin his plans.
