Sykes spurs Quins to victory

12 April 2012

Paul Sykes claimed 14 points as Harlequins grabbed an important psychological advantage over Challenge Cup opponents Wigan with an 18-8 win.

The difference between the sides proved to be the trusted boot of Sykes, who landed five crucial goals to go with a first-half try.

Wigan had taken the lead through Chris Ashton's early score and although Trent Barrett scored a second on the hour mark, they could not stay in touch.

The teams clash again at the JJB stadium on Friday night but the London side will go there full of confidence after bagging their fourth win in five games.
