Taylor's plea to players

13 April 2012

Graham Taylor will be in charge of Watford for the last time when he takes his side to Burnley on Sunday.

However, incoming Italian manager Gianluca Vialli will have no involvement in this weekend's game and does not expect to meet the Watford players until pre-season training in the summer.

But Taylor, who narrowly missed out on a play-off spot in his final season at Vicarage Road, believes his players will be keen to prove to Vialli that they can be a part of the new man's plans.

Taylor said: "The players know I will not be here next season and I have already told them that they have to look to the future now.

"It is hard to avoid the attention around me, but the players are the ones with the chance to take things on.

"It is still important to me that we finish as high as possible and I am sure the players will respond to that.

"Afterwards I am sure I will get together with Gianluca at some time and that I'll be able to give him my news and observations on the playing side.

"I fully support his appointment."
