Novak Djokovic crashed out of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco following a quarter-final defeat to Nick Kyrgios.

Controversial Australian Kyrgios sent down 25 aces on his way to the 7-6, 7-5 victory over the Serbian 12-time grand slam champion.

Kyrgios saved two set points to win the first-set tie-break while taking advantage of the only chance he had to break the Djokovic serve in the second set.

It was the first meeting between the pair.

The 21-year-old has now registered wins over Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer the first time he has faced them.

Kyrgios next plays America’s Sam Querrey, with Nadal and Marin Cilic contesting the other semi-final.
