Australian tennis No1 Bernard Tomic apologised today after he was arrested in Miami.

The 22-year-old was charged on Wednesday with “resisting an officer without violence” after police were called to his suite at the W South Beach Hotel after complaints he was playing music too loud.

The world No25 said: “It was definitely my fault. I was asleep on several occasions when they complained at first, but you know, it was just a noise complaint.

“I’m sorry for the police and the disturbance I caused. I’m just happy I got out and no one got hurt.”

Tomic’s arrest sheet reports that he at one point “closed the door on hotel security officers and refused to lower the noise and music”.

Tomic (above) said: “I told him that I wasn’t playing the music too loud, and he was unhappy with the volume.

“We then negotiated the volume but he still wasn’t happy. When he came back again I was just disappointed to see the police there.”
