Goran Ivanisevic: The pressure is off Andy Murray but I'm positive my man Marin Cilic can have an impact this year

It still hurts that I was not able to walk out as the defending Wimbledon champion like Andy Murray and open the tournament.

A shoulder injury meant I could not take part in the 2002 Championships and it really bothered me but at least I know I won the title.

Murray’s form is good and I believe he will have much less pressure to deal with this time from the British press, who are not easy on him. No one can ever take ‘Wimbledon champion’ away from Murray and we both share that in common.

Of course, the top four of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Murray and Roger Federer will be the focus of attention but you have to add Stanislas Wawrinka, who won the Australian Open, to that group and last year we did see the early exit of a lot of guys who were fancied to do well. Despite that, Djokovic is the favourite — and that is why he is No1 seed.

I am coaching Marin Cilic, the No26 seed, who can be very dangerous. We have talked about how he should play in this Championship because he is a big boy and he needs to be aggressive. That is risky but, with Marin’s game, I think he can be successful. He is in good form and, if he really believes, then he can be really dangerous. To beat him, opponents are going to have to play good tennis.

I think the grass courts are now slower than when I played but you still have to be positive and try to go for it and dominate at the net.

There are so many unexpected things that can happen, particularly in the first couple of rounds and you have to be very focused.

When I was playing I said there were three Gorans: the good Goran, the bad Goran and the 911 Goran. As a coach I have to be just one and that is Positive Goran!

There’s a fantastic atmosphere down here at Wimbledon. I went to the HSBC court out in the queue and had a chance to play with some of the crowd and there was a real buzz ahead of today’s play.
