Olley's volleys - James Olley at Wimbledon

Djokovic covers up his grumpy side

The Centre Court roof may not have been used in the first week at Wimbledon but it appears to have had an impact on Novak Djokovic.

The No4 seed has dropped just one set en route to today's fourth round and cuts a more relaxed figure than in previous years, according to one staff member at the practice courts.

He said: "Novak used to complain all the time about the year he came here and played one match in five days. But with the roof and blazing sunshine, he is far less grumpy and I guess it's showing on court."

Dinara intending to make herself heard

The furore surrounding grunting in the women's game has somewhat subsided but Dinara Safina is making sure that no one forgets it completely.

The world No1 could be heard shrieking at full pitch when launching into groundstrokes as she was put through various arduous baseline drills by her coach Zeljko Krajan.

Players on the neighbouring courts gave irritable glances and the passing Robin Soderling even appeared to share a joke with a friend over the noise.

A-Rod tells hacks we are together forever

Andy Roddick was visibly irritated by persistent questions over his fondness for the music of 1980s pop sensation Rick Astley but the American sought to appease members of the Fourth Estate after beating Jurgen Melzer.

"I appreciate the banter," he said. "I hate to give all of you big heads but I appreciate your place.

"I think we're all under the same roof - no pun intended - of trying to get the game out there. I definitely understand the give and take between the two." Aww, he's Never Gonna Give us up.
