Wimbledon 2017: Weather forecast for Tuesday July 11

After a lingering threat for days, the weather may finally begin to turn for the worse at Wimbledon with rain predicted in the early afternoon and heading into the evening.

A weather system consisting of heavy clouds and rain from the south west is heading for SW19 and could hit shortly after lunchtime, before action on Centre Court on Court 1.

From 2pm, the Met Office fear a downpour could set in for the long haul with play stopped well into the evening.

In better news, any unwelcome weather should start and end with Tuesday with a far more appealing forecast expected until the end of the week.

It is the start of the ladies' quarter-finals on Tuesday, with five-time champion Venus Williams facing Jelena Ostapenko in one of the standout ties.

Williams was in devastating form against Ana Konjuh, while the French Open champion dispatched Elina Svitolina.

Johanna Konta, the first British woman to reach the last eight for 33 years, will face no.2 seed Simona Halep.
