Standard Sport's guide to the favourites for the Spurs job:

MARTIN O'NEILL: The club's No1 target who is believed to be interested in the job. His contract has a January break clause but he has given his word to Celtic that he will not leave while they are still in the Champions League. 4-1 favourite.

GRAEME SOUNESS: The current Blackburn boss is, of course, a former player. Also known to be interested in the White Hart Lane hot seat his tough, uncompromising character has support on the board. But a messy compensation battle could ensue. 6-1

ALEX McLEISH: The Spurs board ignored advice two years to appoint the then Hibs manager who would have cost just £400,000 a year. A student of Sir Alex Ferguson, he has since won the treble with Glasgow Rangers and would now cost three times as much, at least. 8-1

ALAN CURBISHLEY: The Charlton manager's success in the Premiership on a shoestring budget is known to have impressed Daniel Levy and there were rumours Spurs were going to make their move last May. 10-1

Outsiders:

RADDY ANTIC: The former Barcelona boss played for David Pleat at Luton, famously scoring the goal that kept them up against Manchester City. His appointment would protect Pleat's position as director of football.

PHILIPPE TROUSSIER: The nomadic Frenchman is the former Japan and Cameroon coach, and is highly regarded on the international scene. He is now the boss of Qatar.

GUUS HIDDINK: The current PSV manager would like to work in the Premiership and has told sources Spurs would suit him.
