The Screamer... It's the talk of football

13 April 2012

Everton manager David Moyes has been warned by the FA over his future conduct following remarks made about referee Mark Clattenburg after the Merseyside derby with Liverpool last October.

Moyes questioned Clattenburg's suitability as a referee after Tony Hibbert and Phil Neville were sent off and Everton were denied a late penalty.

Warned: Moyes

Moyes, who was in Holland at the weekend watching midfielder Michael Bradley of Heerenveen, was also disappointed with an exchange he had with Clattenburg.

Meanwhile, former Everton striker James McFadden tweaked his medial ligament on Saturday.

Whitehead is Keane and able to play for England

Sunderland manager Roy Keane says his captain Dean Whitehead could make the step up to England international, if he can add goals to his game.

The 26-year-old bargain buy from Oxford United scored his first goal of the season in his side's defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

Keane said: "I watched a video of the game against Newcastle two years ago and studied his positioning and everything then and, let me tell you, he has improved a hell of a lot. To go to the next level, which he can, he needs to add more of a goal threat."

Rovers plan Tonge move

Blackburn manager Mark Hughes is considering a £3million summer move for Sheffield United's Michael Tonge.

Hughes, who also admires Wigan's Jason Koumas, has kept close tabs on Tonge this season and is keen to lure him to Ewood Park.

Tonge has rediscovered his form since Kevin Blackwell became manager.

Sheffield United are also expecting bids for striker James Beattie with Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Blackburn and Portsmouth showing interest.
