The Screamer - it's the talk of football

A Liverpool scout watched Simao, 27, play in Benfica's 0-0 draw against Braga on Monday night.

Liverpool almost signed the Portugal star last summer, only for the deal to fall through at the last minute. But with Simao in excellent form this season, Benitez wants to resurrect a potential £13million deal.

Juan pablo Angel has confirmed he will join the American soccer revolution after signing a three-year deal with New York Red Bulls — subject to obtaining a work permit.

The 31-year-old Colombia striker said: 'It was a big decision.

It's going to be a new chapter in my career.

'I am very excited about being part of trying to make the league take off and become big in the U.S.'

Sunderland veteran Dwight Yorke hopes to extend his stay at the club beyond next season.

The 35-year-old, used in midfield by manager Roy Keane as the club have marched to the top of the division, said: 'Hopefully, Roy will give me another year. I would love to stay, although right now I am just concentrating on my playing role and helping the club win promotion.'

Chelsea's forgotten man Glen Johnson made a surprise appearance at training yesterday.

The England Under 21 defender, who is still technically on loan at Portsmouth, took part in a full session with the champions' first team.

Wigan and Sheffield United are in a straight fight to sign Romanian striker Sergiu Radu after the 29-year-old's heroics in lifting unfancied Cottbus to seventh place in the German league with 12 goals.

Everton manager David Moyes has joined the race to sign West Bromwich's £6m-rated 22-goal leading scorer Diomansy Kamara.

Moyes, who has watched Albion three times in the last few weeks as he seeks a striker to share the workload with Andy Johnson, is the latest in a growing line of admirers to run the rule over Kamara.

Reading and Aston Villa have checked on the 26-year-old, who is also a target for Sevilla and Italian sides Roma, Torino and Fiorentina.
