Thierry's chance for glory

Thierry Henry could be poised to make a English football history tonight at FIFA's World Player of the Year award.

The Arsenal striker has the chance to become the first footballer from an English club to land the prestigious award.

Henry finished runner-up to Real Madrid's former French international and World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane in last year's vote.

Although he failed to stop AC Milan's Andriy Shevchenko from taking this year's European Footballer Of The Year award, the Frenchman has a superb chance of taking the top prize at a glitzy ceremony in Zurich's Opera House. Shevchenko and Barcelona's Ronaldinho are also in the running.
