'To get blown away like that is still hard to believe' - Stuart Broad on Ashes nightmare

Stuart Broad says he still finds it hard to believe how England went from 3-0 Ashes victors last summer to being on the receiving end of 5-0 whitewash Down Under.

The 27 year-old all-rounder told London Live's Wake up London show that he was looking forward to a 'huge summer' for England as the team look to bounce back from a tumultuous period.

Broad said: "It was a weird scenario. We finished last summer having won 3-0 in the Ashes series - the biggest win for an English side since the 1970s which was a huge achievement. We were going to Australia with a lot of confidence so to get blown away like we did was surprising. Sitting here now it's hard to believe what happened.

He continued: "But with bad results opportunities arise. It's a bit of a new era. We will have new coach, a few new players mixed with some guys who have got a lot of experience as well so it will be a huge summer to get back on track."

Standard Sport revealed yesterday that England cricket chiefs are considering the idea of handing the coaching reins to Peter Moores and Mark Robinson.
