Tony Hanks back to basics as Wasps boss

13 April 2012

Tony Hanks, the new London Wasps director of rugby, is not fazed by having taken over from Ian McGeechan.

Although Wasps failed to claim a trophy last season, McGeechan's four-year reign included winning both the Heieneken Cup and Guinness Premiership.

Hank said: "To succeed someone like Ian McGeechan, you have to accept the job and take on the expectation and responsibility.

"Geech is an absolute legend but I have got my own skills and my own plan. I want to entertain people and attack.

"My philosophy will be a 'back to basics' style approach. We have to do the little things right first."

Hanks has named England flanker Tom Rees as the new Wasps captain.
