Holland coach Louis van Gaal has said he wants to win a fourth league title, possibly in England, after this summer's World Cup.

Van Gaal has been linked with a move to the Premier League after he announced his plans last May to leave the Dutch national side.

The former Ajax, Barcelona, AZ Alkmaar and Bayern Munich coach reportedly met with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy after Andre Villas-Boas’s departure in December, although the club went on to appoint Tim Sherwood as manager on an 18-month contract.

However, with Spurs’ chances of Champions League qualification fading, Sherwood’s future is under scrutiny and many are backing van Gaal to take over in the summer.

“My ambition is to coach a top team in the Premier League,” the Dutchman told German newspaper Bild. “I have never experienced the atmosphere in England.

“I want to win the league title in a fourth country – that’s my ambition and I want to fulfil it.

“Either that or I will retire and move with my wife to Portugal.”

The 62-year-old has also become increasingly linked with Manchester United as manager David Moyes continues to struggle at Old Trafford.
