Tough draw for Tim

Tim Henman, struggling to overcome a back problem, was given more cause for concern today when he was handed a difficult first round clash against Jiri Novak in the Olympic tennis tournament.

Henman, who won silver partnering Neil Broad at the Atlanta Games, is the No4 seed in Athens, but this has not protected him from next week's dangerous opener.

Novak's ranking has slipped to 27 but when they met in a Davis Cup tie four years ago Novak recorded his only victory over the British No1. Henman's two wins against the Czech came in the French Open and at Wimbledon.

Even if Henman gets through there will be another stiff test in the second round against either Belgium's Xavier Malisse or Russian Mikhial Youzhny.

Top seed Roger Federer begins against Russia's Nikolay Davydenko. The women's top seed Justine Henin-Hardenne starts against Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic.
