Toure - Team ethic important

12 April 2012

Kolo Toure believes togetherness will be the key to whether Arsenal can repeat their Champions League heroics of last season.

The Gunners were within 13 minutes of lifting the European Cup against the odds when they played most of the final against Barcelona with only 10 men after goalkeeper Jens Lehmann was sent off.

Toure feels if Arsenal are to emulate the achievements of last season, it will be through a strong team ethic. "We are a team which wants to go forwards as a team and all try to help each other on the pitch and off it as well," the Ivory Coast defender declared.

"We are a team who listen to each other,`` he added.

"The young players in our team, they have quality, (Cesc) like Fabregas, so I listen to him as well."

Morale is good in the Arsenal camp following successive wins over Hamburg and Manchester United and recording a first Barclays Premiership victory in the Emirates Stadium against struggling Sheffield United on Saturday.

Toure said: "We are in good form and have belief.

"We have shown we have good spirit in the team, are doing very well and so we need to keep that going.

"The fact we went to the [Champions League] final last season has brought us confidence, and we are really focussed in every game.

"We showed to everybody that we have the team and the spirit to win this cup and this year we are all really looking forward - this time we try to win it, definitely."
