Trescothick fit for final

Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick has been passed fit to return to the team for Saturday's Clydesdale Bank 40 final against Surrey.

The former England opening batsman has been suffering with an ankle problem since retiring hurt in the final Group C game against Essex and missed the semi-final win over Durham, but he will return at Lord's as his side bid to shed their "chokers" tag, having finished second in all three competitions last season and also lost this year's FriendsLife t20 final to Leicestershire.

"It is another massive occasion for everyone connected with Somerset and every player knows the spotlight will again be on us as a team perceived to choke in major finals," the 35-year-old, who admitted on Friday he was still at least three weeks short of full fitness, told the club's offficial website www.somersetcountycc.co.uk.

"I can't say for sure whether this will finally be the game in which we shed that tag. But by the law of averages I feel we are due a big performance and maybe a little good fortune going our way."
