Tring show their mettle

Tring came through a fierce battle with old rivals Watford Grammar.

Defences were on top in the first half but Tring eventually broke throughwhen Jon Metcalfe went over from a 5 metre penalty.

Watford replied with aconverted try and then punished Tring for straying offside to lead 10-5.

The home side levelled with a try from Sean Buchanan and then won the matchin spectacular fashion when Dan Roberts touched down after running thelength of the field.

Tring will need all their battling qualities in thethird round when they visit Bishop Stortford High School who have put 55points on Hitchin Boys and 50 on Freman College.

Wymondham College are oneof the first teams to reach the fourth round and won a tight game withGresham's 11-7.

Wymondham had the edge in both the tight and loose anddefended well against Gresham's lively centres.

James Partlow scoredWymondham's try and Ben Drew kicked two important penalties which shadedTom Youngs try for Gresham's, which was converted by George Pointer.

Wymondham will play Norwich or King's Ely in the last 64.
