Trump off to flying start

Judd Trump swept into an early lead in his Betfred.com World Championship quarter-final against Graeme Dott.

Victories over Neil Robertson and Martin Gould had carried the 21-year-old China Open champion through to the last eight at the Crucible for the first time, and the confident youngster was looking to go a step further.

Without being at his most fluent, Bristol's Trump established a 3-0 lead over 2006 champion Dott, who pinched the frame before the mid-session interval to get off the mark.

Wales' two-time former champion Mark Williams was also 3-1 ahead in the early stages of his match against Northern Ireland's Mark Allen.

Williams took the opening frame on a re-spotted black, added the second with a run of 73, and after Allen had cut his lead with a break of 78, a 125 from the Crucible veteran restored his two-frame advantage.
