Vaughan handed fine

12 April 2012

England captain Michael Vaughan has been fined 40% of his match fee for his team's slow over rate during the final Test against Sri Lanka.

The tourists failed in their bid for victory in the match in Galle last week, with the drawn result meaning the series was lost 1-0.

The team were also four overs short of the bowling amount they should have delivered in the field, and match referee Jeff Crowe has now imposed fines.

Skipper Vaughan will bear the brunt of the punishment but the rest of the team have also been fined 20% of their fees, five per cent for every over.
