Vialli must make do at Watford

13 April 2012

Watford manager Gianluca Vialli has been told there is no money to buy new players this summer.

Vialli, who was forced to put five internationals on the transfer list because of cost cuts in February, will have to raise money from selling experienced players.

Chief executive Tim Shaw, who will attend a meeting of Football League clubs on Friday, is blaming the collapse of the TV deal with ITV Digital for Watford's cash crisis.

He said: "While there is uncertainty to the degree there is over the TV deal, there is no way we are buyers in the transfer market."
