Wales wait on Johnson

14 April 2012

New Wales rugby coach Mike Ruddock expects to confirm his coaching team next week, but whether his support staff will include Australian Scott Johnson is still unclear.

Johnson, a key figure during the Steve Hansen regime, yesterday flew home because of a family health problem.

He has been linked with several top jobs during the past few weeks, including Leicester's director of rugby vacancy.

Sydney-born Johnson said: "The Welsh Rugby Union have been wonderful to work with.

"It does not surprise me that they are being so wonderfully supportive and understanding at this difficult time.

"I have an extremely difficult decision to make, and everyone involved with Wales has been fantastic in giving me the time I need to get this right."
