Wasps keep hopes alive

Wasps completed a bonus-point 38-26 victory over Glasgow at Adams Park to stay within sight of Heineken Cup Pool Six leaders Toulouse.

Joe Simpson, Tom Varndell, Ben Jacobs and Dominic Waldouck crossed for the Aviva Premiership club while Dave Walder kicked 18 points to lift them into second place, two points behind the champions.

Glasgow breached the goalline on two occasions through Ruaridh Jackson and Dougie Hall, but failed to secure a losing bonus-point with a late assault.

Leicester took control of Pool Five as five second-half tries saw them ruthlessly brush aside the Scarlets with a bonus-point 46-10 win at Welford Road.

The hosts led 13-10 after an absorbing first half thanks to a Martin Castrogiovanni try and eight points from Toby Flood. The Scarlets had grabbed the first try of the game, a lovely score from Morgan Stoddart, with Stephen Jones adding the conversion and a penalty.

But the Welsh side were blown away as Ben Youngs, Thomas Waldrom and Tom Croft went over within 10 minutes of the resumption, with further tries from flanker Croft and centre Matty Smith completing the scoring.

A late flurry of points saw Perpignan to a first victory in the same group, though the 35-14 scoreline was harsh on a well-matched Treviso side.

Biarritz maintained their unbeaten start in Pool Four with an emphatic 35-15 bonus-point home victory over Ulster.

Scrum-half Dimitri Yachvili was the architect for last season's finalists with a 15-point tally, including three penalties and three conversions. Wing Takudzwa Ngwenya grabbed a brace of second half-tries while Manuel Carizza and Sylvain Marconnet also crossed to seal maximum points for the French giants.
